- Resist clearing plant debris in gardens and yards until April to allow insects such as ladybirds, solitary bees and hoverflies to survive and be of benefit to gardens.
- Make compost Use compost bins and water butts (often available at reduced cost from local authorities),
- Use only peat free compost
